So lazy. So much work.

So I just realized how difficult it is for me to take pictures of the journal I write in (pretty much) everyday, upload them to this computer, and post it here. The main function of this blog was to make sure I didn't slack on my efforts of becoming ambidextrous and to log everything, so when I look back after I become (or at least get extremely close to becoming) ambidextrous I can go over my thoughts. I realize now I don't really need it and I can manage just fine (although progress is minimal if at all). And my journal has my thoughts (or random words my friends say), so...

I am tempted to close this blog and continue my goals on a personal level. I think I will post my final result (or when I feel like it). Also, maybe I'll make a post of pictures of my old writing, so you can see how it changed in (probably around) half a year.

Writing Even More

WHOOPS. I've been ignoring my duties to convert me into an ambidextrous person. I must admit, I knew this was coming.

So a few weeks ago, I got an old wide-ruled marble notebook to practice writing in. As you can see, I write what ever I'm thinking about at the moment... Or I write the famous, "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog." (But I prefer "The quick fox jumps over the lazy brown dog" because foxes aren't usually thought of as brown. I'm keeping a time line of this sentence in the beginning of my book. Hopefully I will reach my goal before I run out of space that I saved.

I hate circular forms. And NEVER write while standing up (0r without a table to write on) because it makes your already non-existent progress become negative progress.

Practice, practice, practice

Most of the time, it's difficult for me to find time to practice writing with my left hand. I often think about using my left hand to write my notes in class and at home, but I'm afraid of taking too long with the assignment or not being able to read them later. I do practice at times on scratch paper, the margins of various papers, and my planner. I don't think it's enough.

Usually the reason why I fail things is because of lack of practice, so I don't want all of my efforts to go to waste.

I'm still eating with my left hand (although sometimes I need to use my right like when I'm cutting something with my fork or eating something like ribs) and using my mouse with my left. I feel as though I'm getting better. My clicking is more accurate, so I know I'm getting used to the controls.

Space Bar

Okay, this is extremely strange, but I think I always hit the space bar on my keyboard with my left hand. I thought I hit it with my right since it's my dominant hand, but no: my two space bars (one on my laptop's keyboard and one on my external keyboard) are worn down on the left side.

I must have confused my right for my left hand again... or something. So I guess that's another activity to add to what my left hand did regularly before I tried to switch everything to my left.
Strange.

Tablets don't have Control

I had some spare time and I didn't feel like doing my homework, so I thought I might as well open up Photoshop and do some writing. I found out my left wrist won't rotate as much as my right, so when I make broad strokes my hand can't rest on my "paper." I also can't get used to the fact that I cross hatch/shade from the top right to the bottom left. (see the shadow in the pictures)

Since drawing with my tablet makes my handwriting so terrible, I think I'll stick with paper and a camera to upload my work on my computer. The problem with my tablet is that I not only have to concentrate on making smooth strokes to write, but I have to look at my computer screen while writing. It's easier if you just focus on one spot like your hand when you write on paper.

I even tried writing with my computer mouse with my left hand (the black writing in the picture below). That turned out better than using my tablet...

Another step up

I moved my mouse to the other side of my keyboard. Now I use my computer mouse with my left hand. I didn't change which clicker does what because I'm so used to having the left click to be the left click and the right to be the right. Unfortunately, I cannot do anything with my keyboard since I use both hands with it. Maybe I can start hitting the space bar with my left thumb. (It feels kind of awkward)

First Sample of Writing

I guess I could say this is the first sample of handwriting before I go all ambidextrous on anyone. Technically, I did practice before (but in defence, I didn't really get anywhere).

It's really obvious, but the black is my right hand and the blue is my left hand. Let's see how much I can improve! (Excuses: My handwriting is pretty bad to begin with. Plus, writing with a tablet is even more difficult than writing on paper.)
